Didn't know how this trip would start because of the rain on Sunday night but with this first brown I had a really good feeling.
I spent a good amount of time right here or really close by. Can't say how many nymphs and junk flies I left on the wood under water but it was considerable.
Yeah, these were stockers but I wasn't complaining. Almost every trip last fall was a bust so this just seemed sweeter.
Got mostly browns here. Go figure, one day I got all browns and the next day it was all bows.
Drifting a size 20 up against the log was really exciting and productive. Got a lot more hookups than I landed fish.
Like I said, mostly browns this day.
Starting to get their real colors but still have the damaged fins of a stocked trout.
Hatches came off. Midges in the morning. I thought they were BWOs but no, just little midges.
But who's bitching. I had them dialed in.
Another part of Moshannon later in the day. This is really a beautiful stream. Pitty it warms up so quickly in the summer.
Hit a fish or two in this stretch. Hell, if I were a trout I'd live here too!
This was one from the stretch of stream in the last pic.
Well, well, well...back to the pond and the underwater obstructions. Didn't feel right not losing a few more flies on the bottom.
Now this brown is starting to look really good!
Now, the next day I'm hitting bows.
And browns....
Check it out! A brookie. Stream bred no less. And, this was to be the first fish of a hat trick.
And this was the location.
Beautiful spot. Mike shared this location with me a couple years ago.
